The cross country district meet is an event where a group of middle schoolers go to one school and race at that school.
This year, the meet was on the morning of Thursday Oct. 17. The coaches for cross country are Coach St.Romain, and Coach Moseray. Of the top ten girls in the district for 7th grade, Reed Meador-Mahoney came in 4th place, and Madelyn Glowacki came in 4th place in the 8th grade girls race.
The 7th grade girls got 6th place overall. 8th grade girls got 2nd overall, and the 7&8 grade boys got 3rd overall.
Cross country is a sport where you run. Runners usually run over natural terrain. The group of runners go to a school or an open area to run. This district meet is a one and a half mile run. Now that the 2024 season is over, runners should keep the following tips in mind when preparing for the next season.
To keep your pace, be sure to keep your running at a decent speed so that no one can pass you.
You can stretch to get ready and prepare for a run. You can even go jogging to boost your stamina and legs. Make sure you drink enough water and don’t eat much greasy food. Greasy food takes longer to digest. So if you run immediately after, you may throw up. But you can take an energy snack such as granola bars, bananas and oranges to elevate blood glucose.
In my experience, I think I really improved in running, because I am now a little faster, and I have gotten better at keeping my pace. I am proud of myself for making my scores, but I get really tired at the end of the meets. I have accomplished a lot in my recent meets, and I really try my best. What I think about something else other than the pain, I think of a song in my head. But there aren’t many ways how I can think about something else, but I think you can think about something else too, to get your mind off of your running. Maybe you can even think about a scenario in your head, or maybe think about a scary figure chasing you. That might help you out. Maybe I can even do that.
You should think, “I can do it!”, and I’ll recommend trying to sprint as fast as you can, and kick your legs at the end. Try to pass some people up.
If you want to do cross country, you would need to train and know how to run. It’s hard, but it’s worth it. Once you run a lot, you will realize you’ve been improving in running. You may become faster and less tired when you run! If someone passes you, you have to have the energy to pass them up as well. If you keep doing that, You may get first place. But keep up your confidence!
