Teacher Appreciation Week

This week at Woodcreek the PTO celebrated teacher appreciation week. The PTO put together a fun week for the teachers with different surprises each day. Monday was “Breakfast from the GOAT” with  Chick- fil- la for breakfast. Tuesday’s theme was “Students aren’t the only ones with Drip”, and Tom’s Coffee Truck was brought in. On Wednesday, “ Desserts with Rizz”, mini drizzled pancakes were given to teachers. Thursday’s treat was “Everyone wins a Prize NO CAP”, where all teachers got a gift card, and Friday, “BUSSIN” brought in Texas Road House for lunch.

In preparing for this busy week, the PTO Hospitality Coordinator, Jennifer Wooley said “a lot of planning was involved and figuring out the fun theme as well as donations from parents”. When it came to picking a theme for the week, she said “ I like to do things different than the typical themes”.

This is a week where we celebrate teachers and all they do. Sixth grade math teacher, Mr Gatltney, or as the students call him, Mr. G., said that one of his favorite memories is when “students that are graduating come back for the senior walk and I get to see them all grown up.”

Seventh grade RELA teacher, Ms. Owens, said that one of her favorite memories is “when I held a mini confetti-lympics in my class room where we played games to prepare for the STAAR test that involved massive amounts of confetti everywhere”.

Eighth grade Algebra teacher, Mr Lawrence, said his favorite moment was when “I was teaching a girl with learning disabilities who came into my class defeated and feeling she couldn’t do any math. In working with her, I didn’t do anything special, I just convinced her that she COULD do it and would routinely check her work and explain any mis-step she made. By the end of the year, she passed the STAAR Math test for the 1st time”!

Teacher Appreciation Week is a fun week where we get to celebrate all of our teachers, and this year was no different.
