Is+This+the+End+of+an+Era%3F

This first half of the 2024 Astros season has been to a pretty rough start. After their opening loss on March 28 to the New York Yankees the games have gone downhill. As of the publishing of this story the Astros lost 24 out of 37 games.

The fans have been disappointed and angry with the Astros regarding their losing streak. Seventh grader Aldo Reyes said “it really stinks because they haven’t been doing their best and I thought they were going to do better this year.” Another fan, eighth grader Liam Lopez said “They’ve been playing horrible. I don’t think they will make the playoffs this year.”

With the 2023 season being a successful year ending in a deep playoff run at the hands of the Texas Rangers in a game seven loss, which ultimately resulted in the Astros being just shy of a World Series reappearance. What is leading them to their utter and miserable defeat this season. Liam Lopez said, “they need to get their pitching right. The bullpen is horrible, and the starting line is horrible.”

A lot of fans have had a problem with the newest pitcher, Josh Hader. He has received a lot of backlash and criticism from fans because of his poor throws and not striking out the opponent team.

With it just being the beginning of the season the question remains: Will we have a comeback season? Seventh grader Emily Salinas said, “I think they will have a comeback season. They just need to get a new pitcher because he is the main problem.”
