Week 3 of Science

6th Grade:  Students will meet one day this week with their counselors in class to help students develop skills critical for college, career and life. This week students will learn how energy is transferred through transverse and longitudinal waves and will have the opportunity to demonstrate with Slinkys. On Wednesday and Thursday students will begin preparing for our first exam on Friday. On these days, students will be taking their journals home to study and to get parent signatures.

7th Grade: Students will begin their unit over Cells, specifically looking at the structure and function of plant and animal cells and their organelles. We will also be introducing the cell choice board project and its expectations. Please support 7th grade science by donating to the science department on revtrak to help go towards lab supplies and other amazing things we’ll be doing this year. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

8th Grade: Next week 8th graders will begin learning about the lunar cycle. They will be able to identify the phases, order the lunar phases and predict the lunar phases. We will use this knowledge to create a calendar from the role of the Port Authority to help schedule incoming cargo based on the tidal patterns.
