- 6th Grade: This week students will participate in the NWEA/Map Test Screener. This screener will replace the Renaissance screener from last year. Students will analyze the purpose of text structure, and how it contributes to the author’s purpose.
- 7th Grade: This week students will participate in the NWEA/Map test screener to determine their level of proficiency in reading. Students will also begin to read and evaluate nonfiction texts for structure, features, and central ideas. Students will identify major components of an extended piece of writing in preparation for composition by completing a kinesthetic activity.
- 8th Grade: This week students will participate in the NWEA/Map Test Screener. This screener will replace the Renaissance screener from last year. Students will continue their independent reading as the teacher confers with them during the first 10 minutes of class. Students will also analyze paired passages and review STAAR/Test data through a student-teacher conference.
